Fraud Prevention Notice to Members

AFL-CIO EMPLOYEES

FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

The Primary Financial Institution of Union Families

Notice to Our Members:

The AFL-CIO Employees FCU would like to remind members that fraud is prevalent.  However, during times of crisis the potential for fraud increases.  During the COVID-19 pandemic financial institutions are  experiencing an increase in fraudulent activity.  The credit union has in place fraud detection on plastic cards.  If fraud is detected members will receive a call from our Fraud Detection Team.  Fraud Detection will not ask for personal information if they are able to speak with the member with the initial phone call.  If unable to make contact with the initial call the Fraud Team will leave a voicemail for contact.

BE VIGILANT and AWARE

Members should remain vigilante and aware of the activity on their accounts and monitor accounts regularly.  This guidance is especially true during times of crisis.  The credit union wants to remind you to be vigilant against scams, including fraudulent phone calls and text messages. The AFL-CIO EFCU will never contact you directly to request account numbers, passwords, debit or credit card numbers, expiration dates, (PIN) personal identification numbers or Social Security numbers. If you feel you have received a fraudulent call and are concerned about potential fraud on your account, please contact 301-683-2800 immediately.  Or, contact general@aflcioefcu.org immediately.

If you suspect debit card fraud has taken place on your account you may contact the following number to our Fraud Team at 888-241-2440.  However, you should also follow up with the credit union, immediately.
